The Diocese of Lancaster has a well-established Safeguarding Commission who act on behalf of the Bishop and Trustees.
St Cuthbert's Parish, Blackpool is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. There are currently two volunteer Safeguarding Representatives for our parish in place. These are Linda Wisdom (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Mary Hetherington (email@example.com) These Representatives work with the Diocesan Safeguarding Office and are regularly updated with Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. It is their responsibility to ensure that good safeguarding practice in the parish is adhered to by all - including that all volunteers in the parish who work with children, young people or vulnerable adults have DBS clearance checked by CSAS.
Should you have any safeguarding concerns in the parish you should contact one of the Parish Representatives as soon as possible so that it can be thoroughly investigated by the Diocesan Safeguarding Coordinator, the Police and Social Services.
Alternatively, should you wish to contact Social Services direct then please call stating you have a concern of safety or well-being of a child or vulnerable adult and they will direct you to the correct department. Should you feel the concern is more serious please contact your local Police who will transfer you to the correct department/unit. Police forces have Domestic Violence, Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult units who can deal with such issues.
